Welcome to HWL. We explore wealth and happiness on this site, and we wish you a life filled with both. What do we mean by wealth and happiness?

What is happiness?

Happiness is subjective because people experience it in different ways and through different things. Our general definition of happiness is a state of mind in which we experience joy, pleasure, and satisfaction.

Those feelings could come from eating cheeseburgers, spending time with loved ones, or owning precious possessions. Regardless of what leads to happiness, we need money to do and get what we want in modern-day life.

Some disagree with that statement. Some don’t relate money to happiness, and some even think money is the root of all evil. At HWL we don’t equate money with evil or happiness.

We recognize money is a necessity in modern society. Money cannot buy happiness, but it is a tool we can use to experience moments of happiness. Money is not the end goal, but a necessary means to an end.

What is wealth?

The problem with money is it gets spent. One hundred dollars only affords so many cheeseburgers. That’s why wealth is important. Wealth is more than money, it is an abundance of resources, including money.

At its best, wealth can be replenished and grown so that it provides us with the freedom and ability to pursue and experience happiness without financial limitations.

The truth is, we will never be genuinely happy if we must worry about how to pay for the next cheeseburger. Therefore, we believe wealth is required for achieving genuine, enduring happiness.

If we recognize and accept the truth about money, then we can stop denying it and start using it as a tool to get what we want. More importantly, we can understand how building wealth can lead to genuine, enduring happiness.
